PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS TO CAMP WITH YOUR CHILD

CONFISCATED ITEMS WILL NOT BE RETURNED

  • CELLULAR PHONES - Please make sure that your child does not bring a cellular phone to camp. In the past a few older campers have brought them. Usually we find them. THE PHONES WILL NOT BE RETURNED. DO NOT let your child bring one to camp.

  • ELECTRONICS - Please do not allow your child to bring ANY electronics, including:
    o Portable DVD players,
    o PSP's, Gameboys, etc.
    o Stereos
    o Mini-TV's
    o Laptops
    o Any other entertainment unit.
o Campers are allowed to bring a personal CD or MP3 player with headphones for use in their cabin only.

WE DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOST, STOLEN, DAMAGED OR CONFISCATED ELECTRONIC ITEMS.

  • WALKIE-TALKIES - Our Camp Doctor and Nurses, Office and Maintenance Staff communicate by walkie-talkie. Therefore, campers' use of walkie-talkies presents a safety and health risk.

  • CHAIRS - Please do not send any kind of folding or lounge chair. They are completely unnecessary at camp.

  • HOT POTS - Do not, under any circumstances, send hot pots or any cooking or warming device. They are a danger to everyone!

  • FANS - Please do not send fans to camp. Our cabins all have large windows which open to provide plenty of ventilation.

  • HEATERS - Heaters pose a danger to everyone. Should your child find themselves too cold at night, extra bedding is available in the tuck shop.

  • CANDLES - There is no reason to have candles at camp. They pose a great risk to everyone.

  • POWER BARS / EXTENSION CORDS - These are not necessary.

  • LIGHTERS or MATCHES - Campers do not need lighters at camp for any reason. They are dangerous and your child does not need to bring them.

  • LAMPS - Do not send plug-in lamps of any size. Not only do they pose a safety hazard, but they can keep others from being able to fall asleep at night.

  • KNIVES - Knives pose a serious danger to everyone. There is no reason to bring them to camp. No programs at camp require your child to bring their own knife.

  • MISCELLANEOUS - Please do not send scooters, skateboards.
Also, expensive cameras, jewellery and clothing get lost. Please leave them at home as well.

    FOOD AND CANDY

"FOR SAFETY REASONS, CAMPERS AND STAFF ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING FOOD, CANDY OR DRINKS TO CAMP."

  • KEEP WILDLIFE AWAY! - Adherence to this policy alleviates wildlife problems caused by candy and food in the cabins.

  • DON'T PACK IT - We ask that you send your children with no food, or a maximum of $5.00 to $10.00 worth for the bus ride and first night.

  • DON'T SEND IT - As always, food sent in packages to campers will not be given to them.

  • BOTTLED WATER - Our water filtration system has state-of-the-art technology, providing us with pure water. Thus, bottled water is neither necessary nor allowed.

  • SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS - If your child needs a specific food item for medical reasons, please contact our Toronto office prior to camp. These items will be kept in the Kitchen or Health Centre.

The success of this policy depends on a combined effort from families and the camp. Upon arrival, campers will be asked to share all food and candy items with other campers that evening. Adam and Dana will then inspect each cabin and confiscate all food, candy and drinks.

Considerable thought has gone into this policy. We believe our expectations are reasonable and will benefit everyone. We ask all parents, campers and staff to support us, and help us keep campers safe and healthy.

    Safety is Our Priority

We take many precautions to help ensure the safety of everyone at camp. Each cabin has its own fire extinguisher and smoke detector. Staff and campers practice emergency procedures on a regular basis, electrical wiring is checked, and staff are present in the cabins providing supervision.

All of these precautions help minimize the risks of accidents, wildlife problems and fire, but more needs to be done.

We are asking you to help keep your child safe at camp by ensuring that she or he does not bring any of the above items to camp.

These items are not part of camp life and will be removed from the cabins and not returned. We cannot be responsible for loss of, or damage to, any of this equipment.

We are committed to creating a natural, safe environment where campers get away from city life and are busy doing camp activities, making friends and experiencing the out-of-doors.

We need parental support to ensure that your child does not bring any of the above items to camp. We search these out and find most (if not all) of them.

CONFISCATED ITEMS WILL NOT BE RETURNED

We thank you for your support.
